2022 Aevitas Spartan Race - Obstacle Debrief from Coach Jay

We’re less than a week away from our In-House Obstacle Race and we couldn’t be more excited! There’s going to be swag, fun mixed with lots of running, jumping and climbing!

Coach Jay, the mastermind behind the Aevitas Spartan training as well as this race, has included all of the details you need to know for this Sunday in the post below! Make note of all the important details, and get that last-minute training in before we see you on Sunday!

Race Day Details

15k-Start times between 9:00am-9:50am

10k-Start times between 10:00am-10:50am

5k-Start times between 11:00am-11:50am

Competitive Racers: Your heats will be the first to go in every distance!  Please plan accordingly and get to registration as early as you can!

Racers will be released in waves every 10 min, these times will be determined on race day. Please state whether you plan on running competitive or open when you pick up your race packet.

There will be a prize for top male and top female in each distance! Competitive runners MUST attempt every obstacle and/or perform the designated amount of burpees if they fail that obstacle before advancing through the rest of the race. Open racers may run the race at their own pace and ability level. No pressure on obstacle completion!

Parking

Please note that the main parking lot at Aevitas Fitness will be blocked off for some of the obstacles.  For early arrivals, there will be some parking along the road leading to the gym. However, we advise that people plan to park just up Rt 9, in the English Rd parking lot next to the Mill.

You may walk from the lot to the gym via the Zim Smith Trail (it's barely a quarter of a mile). See image below for reference

Aid and Water Station

Due to the format of the race, we will have one aid station located just outside of the main gym, where you will find volunteers with a med kit and a cooler. You'll never me more than a mile from this aid station at any time during the race!

We will have some water for racers, but we advise that racers bring your own water/other drinks/snacks/etc. You may stash them at or near the aid station so you can access them throughout the race.

Race Format

Each race has a similar format, but is unique in its own way. Every race will have a different buy-in, but also a different burpee penalty as well.  Check out the details for your course below!

5k Sprint(16 Obstacles)-10 Burpee Penalty

10k Super(20 Obstacles)-20 Burpee Penalty
