Our Aevitas Fitness family is full of the most amazing people! This Aevitas Athlete Spotlight segment is all about Olivia Henry. If you don’t know Olivia yet, this should give you a peek into who she is, and why we decided to spotlight her! If you do know her already, you know that she is a really friendly person and fun to talk with. Even if you already know her, keep reading - you might learn something you didn’t know before!

Question: Hi Olivia, tell us a little about yourself (where did you grow up? Where do you live now? Family? Career?  etc).

Olivia: I grew up in Albany, New York, very close to Aevitas Guilderland! I have a younger brother, Reece, who is six years younger than I am. After attending Albany High School, I went to the Rochester Institute of Technology where I graduated in May 2025 with my bachelors in Graphic Design with a minor in Public Relations and Advertising. While on the hunt for a graphic design job, I am currently working as an office manager for Albany Student Housing, a property management company, and do freelance design projects on the side.

Q: What was your experience level with athletics and exercise prior to joining Aevitas?

Olivia: I was a competitive swimmer for 6 years, specializing in butterfly and freestyle before completely switching sports to become a collegiate rower. Throughout both sports, fitness and strength training were always a part of my life, so I’ve always been familiar with the gym. I wanted to continue being active while home from college and my mom, who was at Aevitas years ago, suggested I try out Crossfit. I’ve loved it ever since!

Q: Could you share some positive outcomes about your health and fitness from your consistent work in the gym?

Olivia: Since being consistent in the gym, I've become stronger, more confident, and more disciplined. Going to the gym is something I genuinely enjoy and look forward to every day. Aevitas has become much more than just a place to work out—it’s a place where I get to see my friends, challenge myself, stay healthy, and be surrounded by a positive and supportive environment. Seeing my strength improve and hitting new PRs has been a huge motivator to keep pushing myself. The discipline I've built in the gym has helped me develop a healthier mindset, and it's carried over into my everyday life.

Q: What is your favorite thing about Aevitas?

Olivia: I absolutely love Aevitas for so many reasons but my favorite thing may be the atmosphere. When you walk into the gym, you immediately feel welcomed. Everyone is friendly, supportive, and genuinely wants to see each other succeed. I’ve made some really good friends here. There’s always jokes during the briefs, a lot of laughs, and a lot of lying on the floor after a hard workout, but we all do it together. That sense of community is what makes Aevitas so special and I wouldn’t want to train anywhere else.

Q: Favorite movement we do at the gym and why?

Olivia: That would have to be a deadlift or a power clean. I think it’s because I can add a lot of weight to the bar lol. But on a real note, both of these movements make me feel strong and empowered. It's always exciting to hit a new PR or see myself getting better with these.

Q: Least favorite movement we do at the gym and why?

Olivia: Probably an overhead squat. It’s so hard to squat a lot of weight over your head! I feel like I’m fighting the bar lol.

Q: What skill/ability are you hoping to improve on?

Olivia: I’d really love to improve my gymnastics skills all together, that’s where I struggle the most. Toes to bar have been my mission, I have a little bit of each gymnastic movement so that’s a start.

Q: What are some of your interests and hobbies outside of the gym?

Olivia: I love to paint! I got into painting during Covid and it eventually turned into a small side business, with people asking me to create paintings for them. Since then, I've loved finding fun things to paint, on a big canvas or little canvas. Another one of my favorite things to do is make playlists, I am a HUGE music listener. I take it very seriously when it comes to what is added and how it flows, I even have a playlist for different situations and vibes lol. Music is the best.

Q: What was the first concert you went to?

Olivia: My first concert I went to was actually the Jonas Brothers when I was I think around 9 or 10, lol. After that, my first concert at an older age was Rolling Loud New York in 2021, a three-day music festival where I got to see a variety of artists. I was front row for Travis Scott and also got to see one of my favorite artists, J. Cole.

Olivia, thanks so much for taking the time to share a bit about yourself with the rest of us. We are so happy to have you in our community!
