It's Open Season, everyone! Aevitas is excited to host the CrossFit Open workouts this year, and of course we are putting our own Aevitas spin on it to make it extra fun and collaborative! Check out all the details below, and get yourself (and your team!) signed up ASAP!

The CrossFit Open, And Why We Do It

For those who are unfamiliar, the CrossFit Open is an annual event participated in by CrossFit gyms around the globe. It marks the beginning of the CrossFit competition season, which will culminate in the CrossFit Games in August.

The format of the Open is this:  For three consecutive weeks, CrossFit HQ will announce a Workout of the Week on Thursday evening. Any athlete competing in the Open has until the following Monday evening to complete the workout and submit their score online. Once all scores are submitted, everyone is ranked.  By the end of three weeks, each athlete can see their specific ranking among people within their gym, their state, their country, and around the world!

This year's Open begins on Thursday, February 26th, with the final workout submissions due Monday, March 15th.

The Open is unique because it allows every single CrossFit athlete to complete the same exact workout, with the same exact scoring system and standards. Movement weights and standards are set by CrossFit, and each athlete is judged while completing the workout in order to confirm that the standards are upheld. Completing the Open allows you to see where you stack up among all CrossFit athletes.

Aevitas has participated in the Open since our founding, and it's truly one of the most fun events that we host each year! We love it because of the sense of community it brings, and the shared excitement around the workouts. We also love that not only is the Open a time to compare yourself to others worldwide, it's also a time to check in with your fitness compared with previous years, and make goals for the year to come. Also, there's just something magical about the Open itself - no doubt we will see many PR's during this event (first pull-up/ muscle-up/double unders, anyone?!)

Of course at Aevitas, we don't just stop at running the Open workouts! We make it our own unique event each year, with a theme and a friendly intra-gym competition aspect. We host "Friday Night Lights" each week, where we encourage as many people as possible to come in and do the workout, judge each other, and just have a great time in general.  And we are PUMPED about this year's theme!

This Year's Aevitas Open Theme Is...The Winter Olympics!

YES! It's an Olympic year, everyone!  We're hopping onto the worldwide sports bandwagon by centering this year's Open on the Winter Olympic Games! Expect weekly themes related to the Winter Olympics.  Additionally, you can earn points within the Aevitas Open based on your participation in each week's theme, etc. Keep reading for all the details!

Individual Sign-up

While this year's event is a team competition (more on that below), each person will need to register themselves for the event. Registration includes a custom t-shirt, design coming soon!

Register for the 2026 Aevitas Open by ordering your Aevitas Open T-Shirt using the link below. Please register by Monday, March 1st so we can get the shirt to you by the final Friday Night Lights event!

Note that the Aevitas Open is a separate event from the CrossFit Open. If you also want to sign up for the actual CrossFit Open, you can do that right HERE

Team Competition

To harness the Olympic Spirit, we will be running the Open as an intra-gym TEAM competition.  Your team will be chosen by YOU - you need 4-6 people, with at least one Scaled athlete and at least one Rx athlete on your team. Think of your team as its own little country competing in the Olympics - and feel free to go crazy with a unique name or color or theme!

A "Scaled" athlete is someone who plans do to the majority of the Open workouts in the Scaled division, and an "Rx" athlete is someone who plans do to the majority of the Open workouts in the Rx division (Teens and Masters athletes follow the same rules).

Not sure where you fall?  Check out the 2025 workouts below with the movement standards and weights, and see where you would most likely be! Ask yourself: "If these workouts were programmed at Aevitas today, what weights and movements would I choose to get a competitive score?"

Gaining Points For Your Team

This is a competition, after all! We like to make the Open about more than just the workouts, and like to lean into our community and camaraderie! So to win the Aevitas Open, your team doesn't necessarily have to be the "fittest", it can be the most involved, the most spirited, the most community-driven, - or all of those things!

There are multiple ways to earn points for your team within the Aevitas Open. Some of these you can earn as an individual (your points are added to your team's average), and some are only possible for the team to complete together.

Points Available:

  • Register for the CrossFit Open - 10 points (one-time; individual) - do that HERE
  • Complete the weekly Open Workout in any CF gym, with a judge/scoresheet - 10 points (weekly; individual)
  • Judge another athlete completing the Open workout - 5 points (each time you judge; individual; max 3 per week per person)
  • Attend Friday Night Lights, as an athlete OR spectator - 5 points (weekly; individual)
  • Bring a spectator to Friday Night Lights - 3 points per spectator (weekly; individual - points for every spectator you bring!)
  • Dress up for the week's theme with your team - 10 points for team (weekly; team points - at least 3ppl need to dress up!)

Individual points will be averaged across the number of people on the team. So teams of 4 will be weighted the same as teams of 5 or 6.

Weekly Themes!

OK, last but not least, here are the weekly themes for the 2026 Aevitas Open! Remember, by dressing the part you can earn points, but ONLY if at least three people on your team do it - so coordinate those outfits, people!

Week 1: Team USA

  • Dress in Red, White, and Blue apparel (it needs to be apparent, not JUST a random blue shirt or something similar), OR
  • Dress as your favorite USA athlete (again, should be apparent!)
  • As long as three people on your team do either option listed above, your team will get the points!

Week 2: Opening Ceremonies/Team Pride

  • Match with your teammates! You can get as creative as you want with this one, but you all (at least three of you) have to look the part.
  • Imagine your team as your own little country competing in the Aevitas Open, and go crazy!

Week 3: Podium Bling

  • Deck yourselves out in gold, silver, and bronze bling and bring home the hardware for your team!
